about

From the archaic streets of Jerusalem to the small towns of America and all along the way, music has been the thread and source of strength for Billy Wylder. The band features Avi Salloway from Hey Mama/Avi & Celia joined by a boot kick crew of musical vigilantes.

In the heat of the Arab Spring, Avi traveled to Israel and Palestine to work on an ethnographic music and dialogue project with young Arab and Jewish artists. Through his inspiration from the experience, new songs began to take form and the idea of Billy Wylder was born. The band recorded Sand & Gold with the help of The Low Anthem and Dan Cardinal in Providence, RI and is now touring America, building the “Wylder family” of fans from town to town.

Billy Wylder, like their peers, the David Wax Museum and Vampire Weekend, bring sounds from around the globe to meld with their American roots, taking the listener on a journey from bayou to borough, desert to dreamland. Wylder’s a rebel on horseback, singing songs with the people he meets, songs of love and adventure, filled with the color of his journey.

Fall away in love
Fall deep like the light leaves the sun
Catch a ray from your heart
You picked me when I was lost, lost

Feel the wind, feel the earth
I am water you are wood, yes it’s good
Listen to the loon call
I will catch you when you fall, fall

Light my life
The northern lights in the sky
Hold my hand
There’s no need to pretend
The wind has unwound the helix of our love
Ooh… We have just begun

Find a star in the sky
Through city lights you have to try, try
When the dove flies to town
Be sure you are around

Feel the air between the pines
This is where our love lies
And now you sing into my ear
The melody I love to hear

Light my life
The northern lights in the sky
Hold my hand
There’s no need to pretend
The wind has unwound the helix of our love
Ooh… We have just begun

Eclipse, the water drips
The rhythm reminds me when were kids
Like yesterday, in so many ways
I feel like a child, I want to play
Take me to the vineyard it’s spring my dear
The buds are near
And all above in this busy world I just want you my girl

Light my life
Like the northern lights in the sky
Hold my hand
There’s no need to pretend
The wind has unwound the helix of our love
Ooh… We have just begun
