A note from Avi Salloway about Sahara:

I composed this song while touring with the Tuareg guitar hero Bombino. I spent three years on the road with Bombino traveling from the Sahara Desert to Rio de Janeiro, Sydney to Carnegie Hall. It was an incredible journey and deeply inspired my guitar playing and world view. Sahara builds on the hypnotic desert blues that I performed with Bombino and connects the sound with my American roots akin to The Black Keys and Junior Kimbrough. We tracked this song live in the studio, with Rob playing killer “ngoni like” pizzicato fiddle through a Fender champ, Krista and Zamar laying down the deep groove on the bass and drums, and me on my favorite ’65 Guild Starfire guitar. Turn it up, dance it down, and let the music take you wherever you want to be!
